Conduct of Election is a serious business – Ajeigbe

The Chairman, Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission, Mr. Jide Ajeigbe has once again reiterated that the business of conducting elections is a serious business guided by relevant provisions in the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria as well as other relevant laws.

Making this known at the occasion of a one-day training programme for the newly appointed 136 Electoral Officers in the 33 Local Government Council and 35 Local Council Development Areas in Oyo State held on Thursday, March 1st, 2018 in Ibadan.

Mr. Ajeigbe while commending the cooperation of all the stakeholders for their support so far in the exercise, however assured them of the Commission readiness to organize a peaceful, free and fair election come Saturday, May 12th, 2018 in Oyo State.

The Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission boss appeal to all the electoral officers that the orientation training programme is very vital and must be taken with all seriousness desired.

In his welcome remarks, the Chief Executive of consulting firm handling the exercise, Ameye Valour Ventures Ltd., Honourable Emmanuel Adelowo commended the visionary efforts of His Excellency, the Executive Governor of Oyo State, Senator Abiola Ajimobi for putting up every machinery in motion towards the conduct of the Local Government Election which past administrations in the state failed to do.

He opined that all efforts in the past at ensuring credible Local Government Election have always been like smirching of eggs on the rock due to improper planning, it is therefore a commendable posture for the present Oyo State Independent Electoral Commission (OYSIEC) for laying a foundation for a credible and transparent Local Government Election in Oyo State.

Hon. Adelowo also call on the political class to join hands with the Commission to uplift Oyo State by ensuring that the state move forward democratically at the grassroot, through this well through electoral process in the State.
